How Are Taxes Calculated?

Your gross income is reduced by the standard deduction (or itemized), then taxed using progressive 2026 federal tax brackets. On top of federal income tax, we calculate state income tax for your selected state, Social Security (6.2%), and Medicare (1.45%). Additional 0.9% Medicare applies above $200,000.

2026 Federal Tax Brackets

  • 10% — up to $11,925 (Single)
  • 12% — $11,926 – $48,475
  • 22% — $48,476 – $103,350
  • 24% — $103,351 – $197,300
  • 32% — $197,301 – $250,525
  • 35% — $250,526 – $626,350
